Hope you'll come and visit us here in San Luis Obispo (or SLO as we call it). We're one of California's oldest communities, our beautiful Mission was founded way back in 1772. The Mission was named after Saint Louis, a 13th Century Bishop of Toulouse, France. San Luis Obispo is Spanish for "St. Louis, the Bishop".
Here in SLO, coffee shops aren't a place to rush in and out of on the way to the office. They're a destination, a place to meet up, where we make things right in the world. Larry's favorite hangout is "Uptown" in downtown (still with us?). Also worth visiting is The Monterey St. Coffee Co. mainly for a sweet drink they make called the Monterey St. Special. We don't know the exact proportions, but it's got espresso, steamed milk, cocoa, and orange liqueur of some sort, topped with grated orange zest. More of a dessert drink than a coffee drink per se. Next door is the music store and Phoenix Books - one of two great used bookshops in town. The other even better bookstore is Leon's down six or seven blocks down from Uptown. Another cool place to hang out is Linnea's Cafe. It's very hippy dippy and there's live music and poetry readings and all the great college town trash you've got to love. It's a better bet for tea than coffee.
As the sun goes down, the mixologists come out. Larry loves to moonlight as one, so he whips up a storm with a cocktail shaker. In harvest season cocktails are at 5pm sharp; in case you can't join us, some of Larry's best are in the cocktail section.
